The Challenge

The Grande Jetée’s riprap from 1881 was damaged by winds and waves following an enhancement after World War II. The local government set out to expand the breakwater’s lifespan, protect the harbour’s infrastructure, and promote tourism to the area.

Our Tide Pool units were installed to attract algae and support a diverse marine ecosystem at the same time as the breakwater is structurally strengthened and its lifespan extended by 100 years.
