The 2025 Sustainability Delivery Award in the category Nature Positive projects was won jointly by ECOncrete and WSP, as announced at the 2025 Sustainability Delivery Summit North America in Chicago.

  • ECOncrete wins the Nature Positive Award for its Bio-Enhancing Concrete Solutions for Coastal & Marine Infrastructure, which transform traditional coastal and offshore infrastructure into thriving habitats for marine life —while meeting engineering requirements for durability, hydraulic stability, and operational functionality.
  • WSP wins the Nature Positive Award for the Abbott Meadows Restoration Project, which applied the beneficial use of dredged material (BUDM) to restore tidal wetland ecosystems in New Jersey.

The award also recognized ECOncrete’s ability to support marine construction projects at every stage – from ecological design and planning, through permitting, to construction, deployment, and certification. Solutions are manufactured with low-carbon and bio-enhancing concrete by local supply chains, allowing scalable adoption globally.

ECOncrete’s Coastalock units, installed in a riprap revetment at the Port of San Diego, help stabilize coastal land built from dredged material—enhancing biodiversity, protecting port assets, and strengthening shoreline resilience.

As a pioneer in eco-engineered infrastructure, ECOncrete leads the transition toward nature-positive marine construction practices. With over a decade of ecological monitoring data from operational projects, we enable asset owners and engineers to predict, plan, and optimize biodiversity outcomes. Our science-based eco-engineering approach supports compliance with strict environmental regulations while delivering long-term value in the form of climate resilience, biodiversity gains, and social co-benefits such as improved fisheries, recreational spaces, and coastal protection for local and urban communities.

Projects like the Living Breakwaters in New York – where ECOncrete’s eco-engineered solutions are integrated into breakwater structures – demonstrate how nature-inclusive design and engineering excellence converge. Deployed in more than 50 infrastructure projects globally, ECOncrete continues to shape a future where marine infrastructure is both functional and regenerative.
